Karen Onettia (Feil) Hajny formerly of Wellston, Oklahoma who resided in Kopperl, Texas in her later years, passed away on March 1, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma with her children and grandchildren beside her. Karen succumbed to her battle with cancer gracefully and now rest peacefully. Karen was a true fighter and did not express her illness to others. She always put others before herself in which she always stated; “I’m fine, I’m good, and I love you.” She gave the most wonderful hugs even up until the end and will be tremendously missed. Karen was loved by so many and gave love to all. Karen was born on August 28, 1941, to Alexander and Carrie (Deal) Feil in Woodward, Oklahoma. She graduated High School in Shattuck, Oklahoma and completed her college education in Weatherford, Oklahoma at Southwestern State College in 1964 where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and became a Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher. It is truly hard to say in what year Karen met Wendell Joe Hajny, as the first time they met as children, Joe remembers Karen throwing a rock at him to get his attention at the livestock fair. Due to the fact that they lived in different towns they often would see each other throughout their school years at different events until they married on March 27, 1964, in Shattuck, Oklahoma. They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage this month.  Karen and Joe have 5 wonderful children, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with another on the way. Thier children include Shawn (Tamara) Hajny, Karri (Rick) Conway, Joe Hajny, Michelle (Paul) Ross, Marri Leedom; grandchildren Shawn, Amanda, Rebecca, Kelsi, Kalli, Kayli, Melissa, Sarah, Paul, Jacie, Coby, Braylee, Elizabeth, and Caitlyn; great grandchildren Bentley, Ruby, Evelyn, Kalyssa, Kya, Kynlee, Karly, Averie, and Alora. Karen enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to teach her family how to sew, cook, bake, can and preserve bounties from the garden as well as growing herbs and flowers. She also enjoyed reading, her favorite sport to play was basketball and she loved to watch football on TV no matter who was playing. Karen was a talented seamstress from making blankets to wedding dresses. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters (Dorothy and Leola) and brother (Floyd), mother and father in law’s, numerous aunts, and uncles. Karen is survived by her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, her sister BJ and brother Bill. Karen was the “Rock” of the family and now she has been lifted up to heaven, with her angel wings to fly and watch over us! May God bless you as she has been blessed with her treasures of heaven!
