Johnny Lee Stepp

Johnny Lee Stepp was born October 31, 1943 to Claude Owen (Tootie) and Lila Mae (Mefford) Stepp in Arnett, OK.  He passed at the age of 78 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. on December 21, 2021. He grew up west of Arnett, OK. and attended school at Arnett through the 8th grade.  The family moved to Gage, OK. where he graduated with the class of 1961.  He attended two years of college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. Johnny was a master builder and a perfectionist.  He built huge buildings from coast to coast.  While working for Nabholz Construction located in Rogers AR., he was asked to take on the task of building and remodeling the Hutchinson, KS. high school.  He was the superintendant over the massive job which took over three years to complete.  He said it was the hardest job of his career.  The Salthawk Football team showed their appreciation for his efforts and the Stepp Trophy Room in the new facility was dedicated in Johnny’s honor.  His legacy will remain on campus for years to come. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Reese and husband Brett and Sandy Anastasi and husband Jeff.  His special friend Phillis Peer, five grandchildren Bailey Reese, Baylor Reese, Bart Reese and wife Chelsea, Baron Reese and wife Gaige and Jacob Anderson.  He had a special place in his heart for Phillis’s children, grandchildren and especially the great grandchildren, Isaac, Allison, Kate, Raylee, Sophia, Kenny, Lillee, Blakeley and little miss Piper.  His niece Cindy and nephew Rick Stepp and his fellowship friends, Lloyd Armstrong, Greg Wrey, Jerry Mueller, Kenny Giese, Ben Nolan, George Barns, Parker, Butch, Bob Williams and a host of other friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Tootie and Lila Mae Stepp, brother Danny Stepp, Sister Patricia Stepp Morris, his grandparents Claude and Lesta Stepp and a special friend Al White.
